Mobile Unit Assistant

Performs community health functions (including vaccinations, health screenings, and associated testing) and patient care duties for employees and community members (adults, adolescents, children) under the direction of physician and/or nurse practitioner and nurse manager in the MetroHealth Employee and Community Health Services sites of care. Performs clerical, reception, and registration duties. Manages provider templates and clinic dates. Tracks clinic statistics and runs reports. Assists with employee, community, and patient and family outreach to promote the Community and Employee Health Services (CEHS). Monitors and organizes mobile unit schedule and seeks additional support so RV and/or on-site building support may be available to ensure requests are fulfilled when feasible. Functions as the primary driver of the mobile unit and ensures the vehicle is maintained and safe. Assists with coordination of multi-disciplinary learning activities. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, a School of Practical nursing, EMT or equivalent military training. 2-3 years of medical assisting experience (externships included). Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology. Current Ohio Driver's License along with a safe driving record that does not exceed 6 points. Must have the ability to relate well with the public and provide educational awareness for services provided and enrollment to promote initial care and continuity of care, removing financial barriers. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population in a variety of settings. Demonstrated competence and experience using Microsoft Office software products; Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience in collecting data from various software systems. Must demonstrate good judgment, flexibility, initiative, and the ability to problem solve. Ability to embrace change and adapt to quickly evolving situations. Able to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings or weekends. Reliable transportation to travel to multiple MetroHealth facilities and other locations as needed. BLS Certification from the AHA. Proven proficient ability to use independent judgment, analytical/decision-making skills, human relation skills, team working skills, and organizational skills. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred: Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B, with Air Brake Endorsement. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or other health care related experience. Previous experience with computer-based billing systems. Previous experience with point of service cash collections in a healthcare setting. Fluency in writing, speaking, and interpreting both English and Spanish. Knowledge of EPIC. Physical Demands: May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating. May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job related documents. Ability to use computer. Position involves exposure to extreme seasonal temperatures and road conditions, fumes, and/or loud noises.
