Fairview Hospital's Progressive Coronary Care Unit (PK II) is a telemetry unit focused on providing excellent, high-quality care to cardiac patients. Caregivers in this unit are highly engaged and maintain a wide knowledge base with a special emphasis on cardiothoracic surgery, dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring, and heart failure. As a Health Unit Coordinator on this floor, your daily responsibilities will include performing various administrative and clerical tasks to support the organization and flow of the department. A caregiver in this role works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 a.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • College degree
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Healthcare experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.25

Maximum hourly: $24.95

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
