Job Description

MARKETING STATEMENT

The Director of Storerooms and Material Logistics will work in the Supply Chain Management Department and is responsible for establishing and leading a supply chain enterprise business practice to support the inventory and consumable materials requirements for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

The incumbent will lead a team of managers and is responsible for the management of materials, capital equipment, components and services as well as directing all aspects of a company-wide logistics system to support an associated warehouse and distribution operation. In addition, the Director develops, oversees and executes a variety of large, complex supply chain initiatives and strategies to enhance the end-to-end supply chain in collaboration with numerous departments.

The minimum annual starting salary for this role is $121K.

This position is on-site Monday-Friday and may require weekends and evening hours. There is some flexibility of working a hybrid schedule by working in the office Monday-Friday at least 4 days a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing/Supply Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related technical field. In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience in planning, developing, analyzing, overseeing and evaluating logistics, warehousing, and materials management programs will be considered.

Experience

Ten (10) years of progressive and diversified management experience in the design, planning, execution, control, and monitoring of major supply chain activities in a competitive infrastructure, safety-oriented operating environment.

Demonstrated experience in material warehousing, distribution and logistics.

Certification/Licensure

Valid driver's license in the jurisdiction of residence.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, Inventory Management or a related field.

Management experience in a transit environment.

Demonstrated understanding of Federal Transit Administration regulations.

Demonstrated understanding of project management principles.

Demonstrated experience managing a diverse staff.

Demonstrated experience managing a represented staff.

SUMMARY

The Director is responsible for establishing and leading a supply chain enterprise business practice to support the inventory and consumable materials requirements for a complex and diverse multi-modal transit system. This includes the management of materials, capital equipment, components and services, as well as directing all aspects of a company-wide logistics system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides overall direction, coordination and monitoring of warehousing and logistics functions including the development of standard operating procedures; identification and enforcement of safety regulations.
  2. Establishes key metrics to maintain sufficient levels of inventory to ensure efficient supply-chain management.
  3. Determines the most efficient and cost-effective supply plan within a multi-site distribution environment.
  4. Ensures that cost efficient decisions are made during the receipt, storage and distribution process by working cross-functionally with storerooms and warehouse operations.
  5. Establishes and communicates standard operating policies and procedures for Supply Chain Management and Warehousing and Logistics storerooms and warehouse operations.
  6. Coordinates across the Authority to establish quality control programs of inventory accuracy, inventory control, and product control.
  7. Leads and executes a divestment recovery program to include end of life assets, equipment and material.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  1. Facilitates continuous efficiency improvements for WMATA's Supply Chain.
  2. Develops curriculum, recruits, and implements a formal training program for SCWL team members.
  3. Serves as the lead for special projects, including implementation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  4. Ensures all regulatory and compliance measures are met within WMATA’s applicable guidelines.
