York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. York’s academic programs are housed in three schools: The School of Arts & Sciences, The School of Business and Information Systems, and The School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs. Over sixty baccalaureate programs from across a variety of disciplines, including accounting, aviation management, business, computer science, journalism, social work, teacher education, a dual BS/MS degree in Occupational Therapy, and one of the top-ranked nursing programs in New York State, provide students with opportunities to study liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs. The College also offers six graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, Social Work and Nursing Education.
Located in Queens, the most ethnically diverse county in New York State, the College enrolls 7,000 students from over 95 nations. Nine out of ten students are members of a racial/ethnic minority group, and more than half of undergraduates are the first in their families to pursue higher education.
The College’s 50-acre campus encompasses seven buildings, including science and computer labs, music and television studios, a Performing Arts Center, and a Health and Physical Education Center. The College recently completed seven major construction projects, with more scheduled for the future. In addition, its neighborhood is at the center of a renaissance fueled by economic revitalization.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Wellness & Resources, the Women’s Center Manager will have responsibility for managing the York College Women’s Center for Gender Justice and its affiliated programs. In addition, the Manager will also have direct responsibility for other Special Programs such as LGBTQ+ grant funded programs, the Food Pantry and other resources.
Responsibilities also includes the following:
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the Women’s Center including budget oversight and management; Provide services, advice and additional support to students.
- Work with community-based organizations to create and maintain a referral network of services that will benefit students.
- Provide training and educational workshops to the College community on issues of gender-based violence and student support resources (sexual assault, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, etc.).
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the Center’s programs and events as established by the University.
- Manage communications from the Women’s Center to students, staff, campus neighbors, and outside agencies.
- Oversee retention activities sponsored by the Division of Student Development and the Office of Academic Affairs; Review and analyze statistical data; report data as required by CUNY Women’s Centers Council.
- Create and maintain a database of support services/ additional resources for student parents and those experiencing domestic/ gender-based violence. Fill out referrals and other required documents in relation to student resources and support.
- Develop and implement programming and learning opportunities for students, including partnerships and workshops with NYC Commission on Human Rights, Grow NYC, and Human Resources Administration (HRA).
- Oversee the daily operations of the Hungry for Knowledge Food Access Initiatives, not limited to student impacts research trends, digital marketing, program management, budget monitoring, and ongoing reporting of populations served.
- Provide administrative and technical support for campus financial resources, specifically addressing student emergency needs through programs like the Petrie Emergency Grant.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and six years related experience required.
