PLEASE NOTE: All duties ae performed at the client’s office in Sacramento, California. Our client will only consider applicants with previous experience managing or supervising payroll operations for a workforce of at least 150 employees.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Manage a team of payroll specialists, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

  • Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including regular pay cycles, bonuses, and commissions.

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure proper classification of employees, including wage determination and benefits administration.

  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

  • Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures.

  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.

  • Stay current on payroll regulations and industry trends, providing recommendations for improvements.

  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management in a timely and professional manner.

DESIRED BACKGROUND & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems (experience with ADP, Paychex, or similar preferred).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across the organization.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Certification in payroll management (e.g., CPP) is a plus.

Pay Details: $36.00 to $39.00 per hour
