SUMMARY

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for daily inbound raw materials to be used in manufacturing and associated logistics. Review daily inventories and issue purchase orders for replenishment. Setup inbound freight for raw material deliveries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Review inventory daily and compare previous day receiving to schedule and verify for accuracy

2. Investigate discrepancies and work to resolve issues with plant personnel or others.

3. Schedule inbound raw materials as needed based on manufacturing needs including logistics

4. Continuous improvement to lower costs of goods and freight

5. Obtain 3 quotes per purchase order

6. Reduce purchase price variance, eliminate stock run outs, update MM to improve MRP

7. Analyze Market trends

8. Source new suppliers

9. Setup purchase orders for direct loads and coordinate deliveries

10. Maintain supplier Files and Compliance documentation

11. Evaluate inventory to determine proper timing and quantity of replenishment purchases

12. Generate and submit purchase orders to approved suppliers for approved ingredients as needed

13. Negotiate with suppliers for purchasing needs, pricing, and deliveries

14. Reconcile invoice discrepancies

15. Maintain Supplier file documentation of specification sheets, SDS, RUPP, FSMA compliance and supplier approval

16. Communicate issues on pricing and/or quality to the Purchasing Manager

*Special projects and/or other related duties as assigned

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to:

  • Perform procedures in an organized and accurate manner; meet deadlines regularly
  • Work in a fast paced environment while maintaining high level of meticulous attention to detail.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and customers
  • Operate a computer for a variety of applications
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and outside customers
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Problem solve and research issues
  • Take and follow directions to stay on task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining tact and composure

Experience and Training Guidelines:

  • Previous logistics or purchasing experience desired, strong analytical skills, import/export experience a plus
  • College Education preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
