Accounting Manager (Construction)

High End Development is a leading gypsum and waterproofing subcontractor construction company in California. Our company is seeking ​an Accounting Manager with construction experience to join our team

Job Description

The Accounting Manager supports and is a critical part of the organization’s accounting department. The Accounting Manager works with management daily.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all customer invoicing
  • Manage the process for supplier bills, ensuring proper approvals and coding are obtained
  • Assist in executing container logistic invoicing for the company
  • Manage weekly check run process
  • Ensure month end close is completed and timely
  • Supervise monthly compliance filings.
  • Process bi weekly payroll, ensure payroll taxes are filed on time
  • Assist in updating and improving company automation systems
  • Collaborate with department managers with any accounts payable questions and vendor issues, as needed
  • Maintain vendor records, including obtaining W-9s from new vendors and updating records with tax status and tax ID
  • Maintain electronic and physical filing systems
  • Supervise most aspects of accounting. Work with upper management on budgets/forecasts and reporting needed.
  • Ensure that the job costing for all billings and invoicing is complete, job contracts and job estimates are correct at all times
  • Work with external CPA to ensure year end review is complete and taxes are prepared and filed.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed

 

Experience & Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Education and experience: BS in Accounting or 5 relevant years of accounting management level experience and a minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Software: Foundation Software QuickBooks, Advanced Excel
  • The Accounting Manager must maintain an high level of accuracy, be organized, possess problem-solving skills, work well with fellow employees and vendors/customers, and have strong computer skills working with accounting software and Excel.
  • Experience working in the construction industry preferred
  • Must have a college degree or relevant experience
  • Strong computer skills and demonstrable knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Well organized and able to multitask
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization
  • Proactive, self-starter with good judgment and ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
