Description

CP&A is looking to hire a full-time Licensed Structural Engineer focusing on structural steel design (see casperphillips.com/careers for other opportunities including entry level). We are a unique multi-discipline engineering firm focusing on cranes and one-of-a-kind structures. We take basic structural engineering principles and code requirements and apply them to atypical structures such as a container crane or ship building crane. We have served clients all around the world; as you progress here, opportunities for international travel will present itself.

Your responsibilities will include design and review of structures from concept through construction, and working with contractors and providing construction support. You will prepare code-based criteria and develop and debug math models. You will be able to work on a variety of projects, though the primary focus will be on cranes and ports. Technical responsibilities include but are not limited to: Designing connections, finite element analysis, and AutoCAD drafting. Minimum Qualifications

  • US SE License (Any state is acceptable)
  • Knowledge of ASCE/AISC and IBC codes
  • Experience designing bolted and welded connections
  • 4 years of experience with Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience Designing Complex Steel Structures
  • Master of Science, Master of Engineering
  • 3.2 Cumulative B.S. GPA or better; 3.5 Cumulative M.S./M.E. GPA or better.

Preferred Qualifications

  • US Structural SE License in Washington
  • SAP2000 Experience; Experience with Non-Linear Time History FEA Analysis
  • PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Experience with Cranes, Marine Structures, and/or Off-shore Structures
  • Familiarity with CMAA, AIST, and/or FEM standards and Codes
  • Knowledge of IEBC Code
