A day in the role…
- This person will primary be sitting at back desk answering phones, handling referrals and scheduling appointments, but they will also work the front
- They will be checking patients in and out
- Preparing the schedules for providers assigned to - they will have 1-2 they are responsible for (15-18 patients per day)
- Answering phones in between patients - high volume (very good with multi-tasking and attention to detail)
- Triaging calls
- Referrals coming in- they create tasks for the staff - to call patients and get them scheduled
- Working the IDX tasks as well - pre-registration tasks (if they have patients scheduled but there are things missing or insurance is rejected - the system will generate tasks)
- Verifying insurance and check for authorizations in patient files
- Collecting co-pays/payments/balances
- Handling the schedules for active patients and reviewing incoming referrals to schedule
- Sending task messages through the EHR,
- Making appointment confirmation calls,
- Registering patients in the system and verifying demographics.
