We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Medical Assistant at our healthcare facility located in Richmond, California. The role primarily entails providing clinical support to both patients and physicians, handling a variety of front office and back office tasks, and ensuring smooth workflows within the department. This role is critical in delivering advanced maternal and pediatric care.


Responsibilities:


• Manage rooming and patient flow, including pre-visit preparation, assisting with the patient visit, and post-visit duties

• Assist the Clinician with EHR In-Basket management for prescription refills results, authorizations/referrals, and non-clinical secure e-messages

• Prepare patients for appropriate exams/procedures by reviewing EHR for health maintenance, disease management, overdue, or due-soon services

• Assist in patient education by providing informational pamphlets, after care instructions, and/or after visit summary as instructed by the Clinician

• Inform provider of schedule changes that impact patient flow and notify patients of any delays, offering them the option of rescheduling

• Ensure that exam rooms are clean, stocked, and appropriately set up each day prior to rooming patients

• Assist in resolving issues and improving quality of care, ensuring necessary authorizations are obtained prior to patient visits

• Manage the registration, scheduling, billing/claims inequities, and general questions from patients and physicians

• Receive and record lab/radiological test results via telephone or computer, ensuring that those results and related reports are with the patient’s medical record at the time of the visit

• Relays Clinician instructions/orders to pharmacy (refills only without changes), patients, and other entities via computer, phone, fax, or email.

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
• Proficient in using CRM and EHR SYSTEM for patient management and record keeping.
• Experience with McKesson software is highly desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suites for data management and reporting.
• Must be able to perform Benefit Functions such as managing patient benefits and insurance.
• Knowledge of Billing Functions including generating invoices and tracking payments.
• Experience in managing Cash Activity such as handling cash payments, maintaining cash registers, and carrying out financial transactions.
• Must be able to handle Claim Administration tasks such as processing insurance claims and liaising with insurance companies.
• Should have skills in Complaint Handling, resolving patient issues, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
