POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an Environmental Permitting Project Manager to join the Planning, Permitting, and Licensing Practice. The successful candidate will be passionate about their work, driven by intellectual curiosity, and committed to working collaboratively to best serve clients and help shape the future of communities in sustainable ways. This hybrid position will report to the Butler, NJ office and work remotely, supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of key permitting programs to support quality and strategic growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Lead and participate in a variety of site-development, transportation, energy-related, climate adaptation, and resiliency projects.

  • Manage permitting projects at the federal, state, and local levels with a strong record of success.

  • Prepare permit applications, scientific reports, and environmental impact statements.

  • Coordinate fieldwork, direct and support technical staff, interact with clients, stakeholders, and contractors, manage budgets, invoicing, and schedules, and support proposals and cost estimates.

  • Direct experience with NJDEP, USACE, federal Clean Water Act permitting (Sections 404, 10, 408), Water Quality Certification, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Section 7 consultations, NOAA fisheries, and other applicable New Jersey regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, planning, or a related field.

  • 5 to 15 years of post-degree environmental permitting experience in New Jersey (NY experience is a plus).

  • Experience preparing NEPA documentation (ENFs, EIRs, CATEXs, EAs, EISs).

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and technical communication skills.

  • Ability to work under aggressive schedules and maintain a positive attitude.

  • Experience preparing clear, concise reports, procedures, and other written materials.

  • Experience with sustainability, climate adaptation, and resiliency planning is a plus.

  • Experience with socioeconomic and environmental justice analysis is a plus.

  • Ability to travel for project demands and business development.
