Job Summary

The Environmental Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with facility environmental permits and safety programs at Darling Ingredients Inc.


Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Darling Ingredients' Safety programs, including OSHA safety training, annual training, monthly safety committee facility walk-throughs, and advising on accident review processes.
  • Conduct training on environmental compliance, site inspections, sampling, log review, and report preparation to ensure compliance with permits, including Air Permit, Wastewater Permits, Storm water Permits, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures, EPCRA (SARA) Compliance and Reporting, and Solid & Hazardous Waste Management.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and operate environmental control equipment (air, water) and collect and perform environmental monitoring/sampling/reporting as necessary to comply with permits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in environmental and/or safety management in agri-business or manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Environmental, Engineering, Agriculture, Industrial Management, or related field is preferred.
  • Highly organized; superior time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
  • Self-motivated; self-starter; able to multi-task.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in an office, plant, lake, creek, or field environment.
