The Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing and verifying the financial processes associated with patient services provided in the practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule appointments with specialists and testing facilities as per physician requests, ensuring patient flow efficiency.
  • Insurance Authorization: Obtain and verify insurance authorizations prior to appointments and communicate pertinent details to patients.
  • Referral Management: Handle referrals through LifeChart work queues and fax systems, monitor referral follow-ups, and alert providers about unkept appointments.
  • Record Management: Scan and label patient correspondence for medical records, forwarding them to appropriate providers.
  • Communication: Respond to referral-related inquiries via phone or fax, provide patients with appointment details, and ensure pre-appointment instructions are delivered.
  • Registration: Complete patient registration tasks, including data entry and front office support as needed.
  • Policy Compliance: Maintain knowledge of insurer referral requirements and adhere to confidentiality standards for patient information.
  • Performance Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, meetings, and required trainings.
  • Front Office Support: Provide operational assistance for front office tasks like patient check-in/out and payment collection when necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of front office experience in a medical setting; 2 years of clinical referral experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical billing, third-party payers, and patient registration systems.
  • Proficiency in computer use, data entry, and customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Shift: Mon to Fri, 8am to 4:30pm

Contract: 3 months
