Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Catering Assistant to support the execution of events at a dynamic and high-volume venue in New York City. This role is integral to ensuring seamless operations for catered events, from preparation to breakdown. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels in customer service, and is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Event Support:

  • Assist in the setup, execution, and breakdown of catering events, ensuring all details align with client expectations.
  • Arrange tables, chairs, linens, and other event elements in accordance with event specifications.
  • Ensure food and beverages are presented attractively and replenished as needed.

2. Coordination and Logistics:

  • Support the catering team in organizing and transporting supplies, equipment, and materials to event locations.
  • Maintain clear communication with kitchen and event staff to ensure timely service.
  • Anticipate client needs and address any on-site issues promptly and professionally.

3. Food and Beverage Service:

  • Assist in the preparation and portioning of menu items, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Follow health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness in all work areas.

4. Administrative Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of catering supplies and equipment.
  • Provide feedback on events to help improve operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the catering team to ensure all event details are executed flawlessly.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in catering, food service, or event operations preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Physical ability to lift and transport heavy items, stand for extended periods, and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with event setup and catering equipment.
  • Experience in a high-volume or hospitality-focused environment.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
