Position: Legal Assistant – Civil Litigation

Hiring Type: Direct Hire

Location: Portland, OR -Hybrid

Salary Range: $65K to $85K (commensurate with experience; 15+ years of experience around $85K)

Experience Required: Minimum 5+ years of legal experience, ideally in complex civil litigation. Medical malpractice litigation or substantive personal injury (PI) experience (10+ years) is preferred.

Work Arrangement: Primarily in-office, with the possibility of 1 remote day per week.

 

LHH is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant for one of our Portland Oregon clients. The ideal candidate will have some level of knowledge within the Medical Malpractice practice area but open to tenured Personal Injury experience as well.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain legal files with high attention to detail
  • Manage case calendars, including all court deadlines and appearances
  • Schedule meetings, depositions, and mediations efficiently
  • Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel
  • Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents (e.g., pleadings, reports, and correspondence)
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Conduct conflict checks and open new matters
  • E-file in Oregon circuit and federal courts, and Washington superior courts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and document management systems

 

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Oregon and Washington court procedures
  • Experience in medical malpractice or insurance defense is a major plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive problem-solving ability

Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year
