Job Description

Required for this role is one of the following qualifications: military, law enforcement, or corrections experience.

Hourly Pay Rate: $22

MSA Security, An Allied Universal Company, is seeking a Safety Screening Specialist. The Safety Screening Specialist will utilize advanced SmartTech x-ray software to assess items, identify whether they contain objects that necessitate further examination, and notify baggage screeners or handlers of any potential issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by implementing safety and security protocols, site-specific policies, and, when necessary, emergency response measures.
  • Address incidents and critical situations with a calm and solution-oriented approach.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and its perimeter. Work environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Examine items using x-ray viewing technology to ascertain whether they contain objects that require additional scrutiny.
  • Review images of bags and cargo through remote screening equipment, alerting baggage screeners or handlers to any potential concerns.
  • Communicate details of situations to the appropriate personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensing requirements may be dictated by state and/or local laws and regulations and may be necessary prior to employment.
  • Must possess one or more of the following qualifications:
    • Service in any branch of the military (including Guard and Reserve).
    • Experience in law enforcement, having completed an accredited Law Enforcement Academy (Municipal/State/Federal).
    • Experience as a municipal or federal correctional officer, including attendance at a full-time accredited LE/Corrections Academy (must have enforcement responsibilities).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years of verifiable experience.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will undergo a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. MSA Security will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screening to the extent permitted by law.
  • Prior experience in a professional security environment.
  • Licensing requirements may be dictated by state and/or local laws and regulations and may be necessary prior to employment. A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
