Position Overview:

This role will leverage Arcadis's extensive knowledge in advanced intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and traffic signal management. The selected candidate will assist in the modeling, development, implementation, and enhancement of traffic signal timing strategies in urban areas. The ideal applicant should possess the ability to integrate data, adhere to state and local regulations, and consider roadway context to improve operational efficiency across various transportation modes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, implement, optimize, and evaluate traffic signal timing strategies.
  • Analyze traffic signal performance on major roads and networks, determine necessary data collection, establish new signal timing parameters based on comprehensive analysis, input traffic signal plans into control systems, and conduct traffic surveys to assess timing effectiveness.
  • Strong report writing skills and the ability to present findings and recommendations to the public are beneficial.
  • Additional responsibilities include business development, proposal writing, project oversight, and budget management.
  • Conduct traffic studies and impact evaluations.
  • Create various documents to support project initiatives, including project scopes, specifications, timelines, start-up procedures, and cost estimates.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients regarding complex and technical issues.
  • Exhibit adaptability by modifying approaches or methods as required.
  • Manage additional workload related to traffic signal timing.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline,
  • At least 4 years of relevant engineering experience.

Desired Attributes:

  • Proficiency in SYNCHRO and familiarity with simulation tools such as VISSIM, PARAMICS, and TransModeler is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with signal timing analysis tools for both isolated and coordinated signals, as well as simulation tools for visualizing traffic operations with timing plans. Knowledge of Q-Free Signal Software and Firmware (Kinetic Signals, MaxTime, and MaxView) Experience with advanced timing operations. Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) certification or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
