Position Overview:
Parsons is actively seeking a Senior Traffic Systems Engineer who possesses a strong passion for innovation and the ability to tackle intricate challenges. This role is based in our esteemed organization.
Your extensive background in traffic engineering, coupled with our company's resources, will accelerate your career trajectory, offering avenues for advancement based on exemplary performance. We are looking for engineers who are adaptable, eager to collaborate in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, and who excel in communication, analytical thinking, and management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team of engineers and technicians to design and execute a variety of traffic engineering initiatives.
- Engage in the analysis, design, and implementation of projects, including traffic impact assessments, operational studies, capacity evaluations, traffic signal configurations, timing strategies, signage, road markings, and traffic management plans.
- Provide support for additional engineering tasks as necessary. May oversee one or more junior staff members and contribute to performance evaluations.
- May serve as a project or organizational team member, or as the lead engineer for a specific discipline on small to medium-sized projects.
- Offer technical guidance and insights to CAD Designers, Drafters, and junior Engineers involved in the same project.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Traffic/Transportation Engineering.
- Proficient in conducting traffic counts, travel time assessments, and roadway element inventories.
- Experience in traffic signal design and timing development tools.
- Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and Highway Capacity Manual (HCM).
- Strong working knowledge of traffic analysis and simulation software, including Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, and Microstation or AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated expertise in various technical analyses.
- Awareness of transportation challenges in metropolitan areas and the ability to engage with stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred.
