Job Summary:

The Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory by receiving and processing laboratory specimens in accordance with regulatory requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess requisition dates, specimen adequacy, and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high-quality laboratory results.
  • Use organizational and communication skills to receive and process laboratory specimens.
  • Contribute to the overall patient experience by providing exceptional service and attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating effective communication skills.
  • Prior education or demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology.
  • 1 year of laboratory experience or a combination of education and/or related experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Specimen processing experience, including esoteric reference lab specimen handling and packaging, is preferred.
