JOB STATUS:
Full-Time (20 hours/week), 12 Months per Year, Non-Exempt

LOCATION:
Lincoln County - Ivanhoe, MN

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operate the bus while adhering to established driving policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the safe pick-up and drop-off of passengers according to the provided manifest and assigned rides.
  • Make informed and timely decisions based on traffic conditions and operational requirements.
  • Efficiently manage scheduled trips in accordance with timing and locations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop routes and organize special events.
  • Comprehend and comply with MnDOT, Agency, and Program regulations.
  • Conduct thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the bus.
  • Foster positive public relations and enhance program visibility.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to passengers and manage fee collection as instructed.
  • Interact with passengers in a courteous and professional manner, addressing situations tactfully.
  • Exemplify and support United's Behavioral Competencies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possession of a Class C or higher commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Required to complete 16 hours of state-certified training within six months of employment and every four years thereafter.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with road usage laws and regulations.
  • Ability to engage with others in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Proven effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using two-way radios and tablets for communication.
  • Capability to safely operate and maintain a passenger bus and wheelchair lift under various conditions.
  • Ability to make sound safety-related decisions in the absence of supervision.
  • Competence in reading maps.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to accept guidance and support from transportation staff.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to reliable and regular attendance.
  • Must pass DOT physical and comply with alcohol/drug testing requirements.
  • Successful completion of a background check is mandatory.
