JOB STATUS:
Full-Time (20 hours/week), 12 Months per Year, Non-Exempt
LOCATION:
Lincoln County - Ivanhoe, MN
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate the bus while adhering to established driver policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safe pick-up and delivery of passengers according to the manifest and assigned rides.
- Make prompt and sound decisions based on traffic conditions and operational requirements.
- Efficiently manage booked trips based on scheduled times and locations.
- Collaborate with team members to develop routes and organize special events.
- Comprehend and adhere to MnDOT, Agency, and Program guidelines.
- Conduct thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the bus.
- Foster positive public relations and enhance program visibility.
- Educate passengers on policies and procedures while collecting and submitting fees as required.
- Treat passengers with respect and professionalism, addressing situations with tact.
- Exemplify and support United's Behavioral Competencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid Class C or higher commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Completion of 16 hours of state-certified training within six months of hire and every four years thereafter.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Familiarity with road usage laws and regulations.
- Ability to interact courteously and professionally.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in using two-way radios and tablets for communication.
- Capability to safely operate and maintain a passenger bus and wheelchair lift under various conditions.
- Competence in making safety-related decisions in the absence of supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret maps.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to accept guidance and support from transportation staff.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Must successfully pass DOT physical and alcohol/drug testing requirements.
- Completion of a satisfactory background check is required.
