Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Bus Driver to join our team at United Community Action Partnership, Inc. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for operating a bus in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring the well-being of passengers and adhering to company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a bus in a safe and efficient manner, following all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Pick up and deliver passengers safely, adhering to dispatched ride assignments and manifest requirements.
  • Make sound decisions based on traffic and road conditions, as well as bus operations.
  • Select booked trips efficiently, considering times and locations.
  • Work with staff to set up routes and schedule special events.
  • Understand and follow MnDOT, Agency, and Program guidelines.
  • Complete pre- and post-trip bus inspections.
  • Provide positive public relations and program awareness.
  • Inform passengers of policies and procedures, collect and submit passenger fees as directed.
  • Treat and assist passengers in a positive and professional manner, confronting situations tactfully.
  • Support and model United's Behavioral Competencies.
Requirements
  • Class C or higher commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
  • One year of previous related experience.
  • Must attend 16 hours of state-certified training within six months of being hired and every four years thereafter.
  • Knowledge of road use, laws, and regulations.
  • Ability to relate in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to use two-way radio and tablets to maintain communication.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain passenger bus and wheelchair lift in all conditions.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions regarding safety issues when supervision is not available.
  • Ability to read maps.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to accept guidance, training, and support from other transportation staff.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, regular attendance.
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and alcohol/drug testing requirements.
  • Must have satisfactory completion of background check.
