ProHealth Care offers a comprehensive system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County. Our laboratory performs over 8 million tests annually.

We operate state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology. Our laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Client Services Representative - Clinical Laboratory Specialist to provide quality service to our customers of ProHealth Care Laboratories. As a key member of our team, you will effectively utilize the laboratory and hospital information systems to respond to customer inquiries and requests.

**Responsibilities**

  • Demonstrate understanding and effective use of the laboratory and hospital information systems for inquiry, order entry, test cancellation, documentation and collection in support of laboratory services.
  • Initiate patient registrations in the hospital information system and confirm payment coverage including the initiation of insurance/managed care authorizations.
  • Verify receipt of valid orders.
  • Monitor and respond to result reporting queues for errors.
  • Monitor and respond to result callback and faxback requests.
  • Answer telephones promptly. Maintain a consistently pleasant telephone demeanor when responding to client calls, questions or inquiries. Utilize tact and discretion in client interactions.
  • Perform specimen processing to ensure accurate and timely receipt and prompt distribution of specimens in the appropriate departments following established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis or reference laboratories using established procedures.
  • Assist with loading analyzers in various departments.
  • Accurately and completely labels specimens according to established laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Dispatch customer requests to couriers/phlebotomists utilizing the GPS navigation system.
  • Maintain accessibility of reference material related to specimen requirements for tests performed by the laboratory and reference laboratories.
  • Plan and organize workflow relative to specimen priorities to support consistent and appropriate processes to meet clinical needs and assure customer satisfaction.
  • Interact with other hospital department, nursing units and customers to address patient specimen concerns timely.
  • Take appropriate action to communicate insufficient or unacceptable specimens with customers.
  • Serve as a resource to laboratory staff, nursing personnel and customers, providing technical expertise in problem-solving activities related to collection and processing activities.
  • Maintain customer specimen collection supplies and forms inventory as needed, monitoring expiration dates and ordering, if required.
  • Fill supply requests and packages for distribution to customers.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and work area. Monitor bio-hazard containers and discard sealed containers in the appropriate location.
  • Monitor refrigerator temperatures.

**Requirements**

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of laboratory experience preferred

**Estimated Salary Range**

$45,000 - $60,000 per year
