Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Client Services Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing quality service to customers of ProHealth Care Laboratories, utilizing the laboratory and hospital information systems to respond to customer inquiries and requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate patient registrations in the hospital information system and confirm payment coverage, including the initiation of insurance/managed care authorizations.
- Verify receipt of valid orders and monitor result reporting queues for errors.
- Respond to result callback and faxback requests, and answer telephones promptly.
- Perform specimen processing to ensure accurate and timely receipt and prompt distribution of specimens in the appropriate departments.
- Prepare specimens for analysis or reference laboratories using established procedures.
- Assist with loading analyzers in various departments and accurately label specimens according to established laboratory policies and procedures.
- Dispatch customer requests to couriers/phlebotomists utilizing the GPS navigation system.
- Maintain accessibility of reference material related to specimen requirements for tests performed by the laboratory and reference laboratories.
- Plan and organize workflow relative to specimen priorities to support consistent and appropriate processes to meet clinical needs and assure customer satisfaction.
- Interact with other hospital department, nursing units and customers to address patient specimen concerns timely.
- Serve as a resource to laboratory staff, nursing personnel and customers, providing technical expertise in problem-solving activities related to collection and processing activities.
- Maintain customer specimen collection supplies and forms inventory as needed, monitoring expiration dates and ordering, if required.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work area, monitor bio-hazard containers and discard sealed containers in the appropriate location.
- Monitor refrigerator temperatures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of laboratory experience preferred
