Position Overview:
The Laboratory Science Specialist is responsible for conducting a wide range of laboratory analyses and procedures that are essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various health conditions. This role is crucial in delivering precise and prompt results that support patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
The Laboratory Science Specialist will undertake the following duties:

  • Conduct diverse laboratory tests and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Hematology
    • Clinical Chemistry
    • Microbiology
    • Immunology
    • Serology
    • Urinalysis
    • Blood Banking
    • Molecular Diagnostics
    • Cytology
    • Immunohematology
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all tests performed.
  • Adhere to established laboratory protocols and maintain comprehensive records of all analyses conducted.
  • Communicate findings and results to medical professionals, including pathologists and physicians.
  • Implement and document quality control measures and engage in the assessment of new testing methodologies and equipment.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment, ensuring routine maintenance and calibration of instruments.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Stay informed about advancements in laboratory science and technology.
  • Assist in the training and oversight of laboratory assistants and other staff members.
  • Participate in ongoing education and maintain necessary certifications and licenses.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related discipline.
  • A valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license from a recognized certifying body.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Generalist in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems and relevant software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • The capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • A strong commitment to quality patient care and safety.
