Position Overview

The Education and Employment Support Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality program services to clients within the framework of the NAVIGATE model. This role focuses on providing Supportive Education and Employment services through person-centered practices, advocacy, and direct assistance in navigating educational and employment systems.

The NAVIGATE program is designed for individuals who have experienced their first episode of non-affective psychosis, offering coordinated specialty care (CSC) to help clients achieve personal goals and foster recovery. The program supports clients in their journey towards recovery, enhancing their ability to function effectively at home, in the workplace, at school, and in social settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients in pursuing competitive employment and educational objectives aligned with the NAVIGATE model.
  • Incorporate principles such as Shared Decision Making, Collaborative Decision Making, and Strengths and Resiliency Focus into client interactions.
  • Guide clients in effective communication and engagement within educational and employment systems, including assistance with necessary documentation.
  • Educate clients on benefit eligibility and the implications of work and school participation.
  • Support clients in understanding the financial aspects of employment while pursuing educational goals.
  • Coach clients on job interview techniques and assist with related paperwork.
  • Collaborate with the Compass team to integrate work and educational goals into individual treatment plans.
  • Provide comprehensive support in psychiatric rehabilitation and psychotherapeutic interventions as outlined in treatment plans.
  • Offer coaching on independent living skills, including cooking, shopping, and budgeting, to facilitate success in educational and employment pursuits.
  • Train team members on supported employment services.
  • Work collaboratively with other Compass team members to enhance clients' recovery and wellness goals.
  • Attend court hearings as required and complete necessary documentation.
  • File mandated reports as needed and collaborate with specialty providers for coordinated care.
  • Engage actively with clients and their families, schools, and employers (with client consent).
  • Participate in scheduled team meetings and provide transportation as necessary for client goals.
  • Maintain organized documentation and adhere to professional standards and supervision requirements.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and coordination with community services.
  • Maintain consistent work hours and perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges and substance use issues.

Preferred:

  • Experience in providing supported employment and education services.
