We are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech to join our team at SSM Health. As a Radiology Tech, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department.
Key Responsibilities- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide educational materials.
- Transport patients to and from clinical areas, verifying patient identity according to policies and procedures.
- Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams, positioning patients for procedures, and filing, delivering, and retrieving patient reports and charts.
- Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines, preventing unnecessary radiation exposure to patients.
- Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Monitor patient activity during procedures and report any abnormal activity.
- Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
- Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and film storage areas.
- Perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
- Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.
- No experience required.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
- Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
- Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
- Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Rare kneeling and sitting.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
