Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Parsons State Hospital. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol hospital grounds and buildings to prevent and detect security breaches
  • Respond to emergency situations, including resident calls and staff requests for assistance
  • Conduct fire extinguisher checks and building checks to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Perform ground checks every 30 minutes to ensure the safety of everyone on grounds
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and safely operate a motor vehicle
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in safety, security, or fire prevention work
  • Valid Kansas driver's license
  • Ability to pass a drug screening test and law enforcement security clearance
Working Conditions

This position requires physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance, and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of CIT, CPR, Infection Control, and other relevant safety procedures
  • Proficiency in observation techniques to identify suspicious persons/vehicles and/or situations that appear out of the ordinary
