Position Overview & Responsibilities

This role involves assessing eligibility for benefits (new applications, re-certifications, and all changes) related to Child Care, Cash, and Food Assistance through various communication methods including phone, in-person meetings, and electronic submissions. The work is conducted within the state's KEES computer system. This position primarily serves Labette County while also providing remote assistance to other offices/counties within the East Region, as well as addressing statewide backlogs from other regions as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Education – General; A minimum of two years of experience in interviewing, investigating, compiling information, documenting decisions, interpreting guidelines, and/or providing technical assistance relevant to the agency's programs. Relevant post-secondary education may substitute for experience as determined by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree with a focus on social services; Experience in managing caseloads within a Human Service Agency; Experience in determining eligibility for Human Service programs; A valid driver's license is required if travel is necessary for the position.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Security Clearance: A background check (including criminal background, welfare fraud, driver's license, and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is mandatory for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may involve fingerprinting and an FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Tax Clearance: Candidates offered employment in a State of Kansas position will need to apply for a Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days of being offered a position.
