Job Summary

The State of Kansas is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to serve as a Human Services Specialist - Employment Benefits Coordinator. This role is responsible for providing benefit eligibility determinations for Child Care, Cash, and Food Assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process new applications, re-certifications, and changes for benefit eligibility
  • Work within the state's KEES computer system to complete tasks
  • Provide assistance to clients via phone, face-to-face, computer, fax, and mail
  • Serve Labette County and remotely assist other offices/counties in the East Region
  • Assist with statewide backlog from other regions as needed

Requirements

  • Two years of experience interviewing, investigating, compiling information, documenting decisions, interpreting guidelines, and/or providing technical assistance relevant to the agency's programs
  • Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency
  • Bachelor's degree with a social services emphasis is preferred
  • Work experience with caseload management within a Human Service Agency is preferred
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license if position requires travel

Security Clearance and Tax Clearance

  • A background check is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment
  • Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF and maintained throughout employment
  • Candidates offered employment in a State of Kansas position will need to apply for a Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days of being offered a position
