Security and Safety Professional

Job Summary:
The State of Kansas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Security Officer to join our team at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce security policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Respond to emergency situations, including resident calls and staff requests for assistance
- Conduct regular security checks of the facility and grounds
- Monitor CCTV cameras and respond to alarms
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and effective security response
- Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and procedures
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of experience in safety, security, or fire prevention work preferred
- Valid Kansas driver's license required
- Ability to pass a drug screening test and law enforcement security clearance
- Knowledge of security procedures and protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to emergency situations, and maintain a high level of physical fitness. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
