Key Responsibilities
  • Discipleship and Leadership
    • Disciple and mentor student-athletes to facilitate spiritual growth and development
    • Teach and model the value of Christian competition and sportsmanship
    • Monitor academic performance and partner with Student Development for discipleship, development, and retention of student-athletes
  • Recruiting and Talent Development
    • Recruit and retain high-quality student-athletes who align with Covenant College's mission and values
    • Identify and develop student-athletes with the potential to achieve academic and athletic success
    • Collaborate with the Head Coach to fill a roster of 36 student-athletes
  • Excellence and Performance
    • Field a highly competitive team at the conference level
    • Provide on-court coaching and instruction to student-athletes
    • Assist with the development and implementation of game plans and strategies
  • Service and Community Engagement
    • Contribute to the growth and development of the Athletics department
    • Create opportunities for student-athletes to engage in community service and mission projects
  • Administrative Effectiveness
    • Manage resources effectively and efficiently within the program
    • Approach all aspects of the position with a high degree of professionalism and integrity
    • Assume administrative roles within the Athletics department as assigned by the Director of Athletics
    Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
    • Experience in coaching softball, preferably at the collegiate level
    • Commitment to adhering to all policies, rules, and regulations of Covenant College, the Collegiate Conference of the South, and the NCAA
    • Ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, and faculty members
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    Eligibility Requirements
    • Acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
    • Understanding of the mission and purpose of Covenant College
    • Strong understanding of and commitment to Scripture, the Westminster Standards, the doctrinal standards of the PCA, and the mission of Covenant College as a Christian liberal arts college
    • Ability to assent to Covenant College's Staff Commitments
