Mental Health Support Specialist

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team in the Emergency Department. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and caring therapeutic environment for our patients, their families, and our colleagues. Your primary responsibilities will include direct patient care and monitoring, documentation, and coordinating patient activities. You will work closely with patients in highly stressful and anxiety-producing situations, and may be required to stay with patients who are escalated. Once patients are behaving appropriately, you will assist in reassigning a Constant Patient Safety Associate (CPSA) to the patient as the constant observer.
Requirements:
High school graduate or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in mental health or human services related field preferred. Previous relevant experience required, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in psychiatric facilities, corrections, hospital security, community crisis teams, or individual work with children or adults with special needs.
Shifts:
Part-time (24 hours per week) shift available.
