Technical Support Specialist

The Technical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the effective delivery of IT services within the organization. This position is primarily responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, support, and management of the company's systems. The Specialist possesses a comprehensive understanding of the technologies and systems in place, coupled with strong technical expertise. This role involves operational planning, configuration, and management of complex systems and services. While the focus is on hardware and operating system components, the Specialist also has a broader understanding of the business environment and the applications running on the managed systems, utilizing this knowledge to enhance operational efficiencies and recommend improvement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade tasks for personal computer systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software failures or issues.
- Respond to inquiries in a professional manner to manage expectations effectively.
- Provide implementation and production support as necessary.
- Offer additional support across various technology domains, focusing on core Windows technologies (including Active Directory, Distributed File System, SQL, Exchange, Azure, etc.).
- Assist with audio-visual conferencing needs for team members.
- Act as a technical resource during cross-team troubleshooting initiatives.
- Engage in the evaluation, selection, and installation of new hardware and operating system versions.
- Create and maintain documentation related to system builds and configurations.
- Ensure documentation is current and accurately reflects all changes.
- Plan and manage system activities to optimize hardware and software availability and utilization.
- Collaborate with on-site help desk staff to ensure timely support services.
- Oversee the efficient operation and management of personal computer systems.
- Be available to work during evenings and weekends for system updates, infrastructure enhancements, and equipment relocations as required.
- Uphold the company's commitment to compliance.
- Associate degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2 years of technical support experience, or 4 years of technical support experience in lieu of a degree.
- Proficient in the deployment, repair, and maintenance of computer hardware, including workstations, laptops, and peripherals.
- Experienced in the deployment, repair, and maintenance of software applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating systems.
- Familiar with general networking and client/server concepts, including SAN technology, VPN technologies, Mobile Device Management solutions, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Cloud Solutions, Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Exchange Server.
