Job Overview:

The Electrical General Foreman provides technical expertise for power-generating commissioning projects. The successful candidate will provide technical owner correspondence support and on-site supervision to ensure a safe, productive, and quality job is attained, while controlling costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct Foremen and craft labor on-site to ensure best use of company resources and adherence to company policies and regulations.
  • Schedule equipment, materials, and tools to maximize production and minimize costs, collaborating with the Trade Superintendent on all scheduled activities.
  • Manage, coach, and train standardized Work Instructions, and assist the Trade Superintendent in process improvement efforts.
  • Act as a technical consultant to field personnel in electrical circuits, power quality, switchgear installations, transmission lines, inter-connect systems, and high voltage collection/distribution systems.
  • Manage and oversee safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project, enforcing company, jobsite-specific, federal, and state safety regulations.
  • Communicate with the Trade Superintendent to update on project problem areas and status, collaborating to plan and staff trade employees through company resources, processes, and policies.
  • Conduct oneself with a professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with internal and external individuals, creating a collaborative environment with front-line supervision, craft, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner to improve delivery performance.
  • Compare labor and equipment production and efficiency to the job estimate, informing the Trade Superintendent of cost over-runs and resource utilization.
  • Verify that project construction activities and engineering are in conformance with the project Quality Plan and Work Methods, establishing, aligning, and communicating project specifications and craftsmanship expectations to all craft workers, vendors, subcontractors, and other agents.
  • Mentor professional positions such as Field Construction Coordinator/Field Engineers and Foremen on work discipline, production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety.
  • Understand the scope of work per the contract and perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintain crew and equipment matrices, comparing information back to established Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed.
  • Complete necessary reports in a timely and legible manner, including Daily Reports, Quality documentation, Material Requests, and time sheets.
  • Perform 10% Quality audits of installed work or as detailed in the Project Quality Plan.
  • Familiarize themselves with site conditions and lead discipline work activities in the absence of the Trade Superintendent.
  • Oversee commissioning and testing activities, assist in drafting the commissioning plan, LOTO plan, and Energization procedure, and manage LOTO procedures and red rope delineation onsite.
  • Review test documents, remediate as required, and assist the performance engineering team in performance testing.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Ability to supervise many employees.
  • Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment uses and limitations.
  • Good communication skills to deal with owners and employees.
  • Possess a solid understanding of job costing.
  • Relocation to the project site community is required.
  • May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of a company contract licensing, or journeyman or a master electrician license.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of required federal and state codes for the project.
