Electrical Commissioning Manager

The Electrical Commissioning Manager provides technical expertise for power-generating commissioning projects. This role involves supporting engineering review, procurement, construction, and start-up of high or medium voltage electrical systems and associated substations. The manager will also provide technical owner correspondence support and on-site supervision to ensure a safe, productive, and quality job is attained and costs are controlled in the commissioning and testing for the project site.
Primary Responsibilities:- Supervises and sets direction for all Foremen and craft labor on-site to ensure best use of all company resources and adherence to company policies and state and federal regulations.
- Schedules equipment, materials, and tools to effectively utilize all resources and maximize production while minimizing costs.
- Manages, coaches, trains, and implements standardized Work Instructions and assists the Trade Superintendent in process improvement efforts.
- Acts as a technical consultant to all field personnel in areas such as electrical circuits, power quality, switchgear installations, transmission lines, inter-connect systems, and high voltage collection/distribution systems.
- Manages and is responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project, including understanding and enforcing company, jobsite specific, federal, and state safety regulations on site and addressing any concerns with the Trade Superintendent.
- Communicates with the Trade Superintendent to update on project problem areas and the specific status of the project and collaborates to plan and staff trade employees through the proper utilization of company resources, processes, and policies.
- Conducts oneself with a professional and respectful demeanor while interacting with all internal and external individuals and creates a collaborative environment with front line supervision, craft, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner to continually improve the company's delivery performance.
- Compares labor and equipment production and efficiency to the job estimate for specific discipline and informs the Trade Superintendent of cost over-runs and the utilization of company resources.
- The Electrical Commissioning Manager is accountable for verifying that the project construction activities and project engineering are in conformance with the project Quality Plan and Work Methods and establishes, aligns, and communicates the project specifications and craftsmanship expectations to all craft workers, vendors, subcontractors, and other agents.
- Mentors other professional positions such as Field Construction Coordinator/Field Engineers and Foremen on work discipline, production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety.
- Understands the scope of work per the contract.
- Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
- Maintains crew and equipment matrixes, comparing information back to established Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed.
- Completes all necessary reports in a timely and legible manner, including Daily Reports, Quality documentation, Material Requests, and time sheets.
- Performs 10% Quality audits of all installed work or as otherwise detailed in the Project Quality Plan.
- Familiarizes themselves with site conditions.
- Leads discipline work activities in the absence of the Trade Superintendent.
- Oversees all commissioning and testing activities.
- Assists in drafting the commissioning plan, LOTO plan, and Energization procedure.
- Oversees and manages energization of the PV plant.
- Coordinates energization with utilities and owners.
- Manages LOTO procedures and red rope delineation onsite.
- Reviews test documents and remedies as required.
- Assists the performance engineering team in performance testing.
