Crane Aerospace and Electronics is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer II to join our dynamic team in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This role is pivotal in enhancing our manufacturing processes and ensuring product quality in the aerospace and defense sectors.

Position Overview:

As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will engage in diverse tasks aimed at improving manufacturing systems and product manufacturability while optimizing cost efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product initiatives, evaluate materials for new processes, and offer technical support to design engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily manufacturing operations by providing necessary tools, information, and guidance for consistent, high-quality production.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of AS9100, IPC-610, and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Support Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machinery.
  • Employ strong analytical skills to identify problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Analyze and design methods, procedures, and layouts to enhance production efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement cost reduction and product enhancement initiatives.
  • Participate in reviews of customer specifications and statements of work.
  • Assess process change requests and execute necessary adjustments.
  • Evaluate current equipment capabilities and justify capital investments.
  • Conduct cost analyses, including make/buy assessments.
  • Create manufacturing operating instructions and track metrics to monitor process health.
  • Assess non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board.
  • Develop training procedures for assemblers and operators.
  • Provide customer support as needed.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to mitigate quality issues during incoming inspections.
  • Develop return on investment analyses for capital equipment and process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a manufacturing engineer with relevant solder certification and experience with SMT machinery.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard manufacturing environment with potential exposure to safety equipment requirements.
  • May involve unusual environmental conditions such as noise, temperature variations, and confined spaces.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate production needs.
  • Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.
