Job Title: Gift Planning Officer

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? Do you have a knack for building relationships and securing funding for a great cause? We're seeking a skilled Gift Planning Officer to join our team at the American Red Cross.

About the Role:

The Gift Planning Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing planned giving programs to secure gifts supporting the American Red Cross's mission. This includes cultivating and soliciting new opportunities, providing support and guidance to volunteers, and managing overall gift planning strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement planned giving programs to secure gifts supporting the American Red Cross's mission
  • Cultivate and solicit new opportunities for planned giving donors
  • Provide support and guidance to volunteers
  • Manage overall gift planning strategy for complex portfolios and/or lines of service needs
  • Compile and analyze information about potential contributors for the development of sales strategies
  • Contact potential contributors and persuade them to contribute planned gifts
  • Implement and assist in the development of procedures for receiving, acknowledging, and reporting planned gifts
  • Implement and assist in the development of programs and marketing strategies to attract potential donors
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in philanthropy studies, nonprofit management, law, finance, insurance, trust services, real estate, or other related field
  • Minimum 5 years of major gift or gift planning experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Certification in one or more of the following areas is preferred: CFRE, CFP, CAP, J.D., LLM
  • Experience with gifts of assets and life income gifts, including charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and pooled income funds
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Basic proficiency in the use of personal computers, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications
