Duties and Responsibilities:

As a member of our Haematology Laboratory team, you will perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical functions in a fast-paced environment. You will rotate workstations as required and perform other related duties as determined by your Operations Leader/Technical Specialist. Your responsibilities will include prioritizing your workload, ensuring that all work, including STATs, is completed in the required time frame. You will identify abnormalities in test results and take appropriate action, seeking advice from appropriate resources if necessary. You will also report and document unexpected or non-conforming events/incidents. Additionally, you will prepare, authorize, and interpret laboratory results, respond to inquiries regarding specimen collection, results, and interpretation, and perform routine and preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on laboratory instruments. You will follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the completion of all duties and adhere to all elements of the quality program, including testing appropriate QC samples, performing QA activities, and assessing results. You will also participate in the development and maintenance of the quality management system by writing/updating SOPs, liaise with internal and external customers, and adhere to the laboratory safety program. Furthermore, you will participate in material management, inventory management, safety management, performance management, and quality assurance, and participate in the training of technologists, laboratory students, medical students, and residents. You will also participate in technical research and development activities and continuing education, and participate in test development and validation.
