Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Operations Specialist to join our team at Skyline College. This is a part-time position working 48% time over 10 months per year.

Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is between $34,238.40 and $43,694.40, depending on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, coordinate, and maintain supplies, equipment, and instructional support services for a college Simulation Laboratory.
  • Demonstrate safe use of biologicals and chemicals, supplies, and equipment, store and dispose of a variety of supplies.
  • Assist faculty in maintaining laboratory operations, provide safety and procedural information concerning laboratory operations and supplies.
  • Lead the work of teams or individual staff, assist supervisory staff as the designated technical resource for the resolution of more complex operational issues.

Requirements

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of a Bachelor's degree in the specific discipline or subject matter.
  • Experience in laboratory techniques specific to the discipline/course syllabus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable regulatory and other safety policies and procedures.
  • Successful training and experience in laboratory operations including research and implementation of state-of-the-art equipment, supplies, and materials.

Working Conditions

This classification requires standing for extended periods, bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, reaching overhead, moving objects of moderate weight, kneeling; exposure to biologicals and chemicals, fumes, dust, and odors.
