We are looking for a manager to lead our Standards team.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. This role involves overseeing a team responsible for maintaining process, technical, and application standards, as well as equipment specifications for our operations.

This position offers flexible work arrangements, requiring residency in the Dayton, OH or Indianapolis, IN area. The typical workweek will consist of 3-4 days in the office and 1-2 days remote, with travel requirements below 10%.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a champion for the development, documentation, and revision of processes across various AES divisions.
  • Lead the strategic planning for team transformation to establish and enhance standard processes and tools aligned with AES's critical initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to address complex challenges requiring technical expertise and project management skills.
  • Oversee the creation and upkeep of new and existing process standards, ensuring alignment across AES US Utilities.
  • Conduct research and maintain application and process standards for substation, transmission, and distribution assets.
  • Work with Digital and Internal Communications to evaluate and implement digital tools and techniques for delivering process standards.
  • Monitor and assess individual processes continuously, providing updates and recommendations.
  • Ensure process sustainability by engaging with stakeholders and overseeing adherence to standards.
  • Manage and curate the AES digital library.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A four-year degree in Engineering, Business, or Communications; a master's degree in Business Administration or a related field is advantageous.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in communications, process improvement, or project management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 tools.
  • Proven track record in leading process improvement initiatives and large-scale communication campaigns.
  • General understanding of the regulated T&D utility sector, with knowledge of Smart Grid and DER integration being a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities to effectively manage and guide team members and external personnel.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
