POSITION SUMMARY


The Chief of Staff plays a crucial role in overseeing the veterinary practice, ensuring the delivery of top-notch animal care, outstanding client service, and fostering a motivated and productive veterinary team.

This role is dedicated to advocating for animal welfare, nurturing long-lasting relationships with clients, and enhancing the human-animal bond through education and support.

The Chief of Staff collaborates with the Practice Manager (if applicable) to lead an efficient veterinary team, maintain a safe and engaging environment, and elevate both medical quality and operational performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


The Chief of Staff will balance leadership duties with veterinary responsibilities, with an expected distribution of approximately 20%-30% on leadership and 70%-80% on clinical practice.


Leadership Duties (20-30% of time):


Embody and promote the core values of the organization within the team.

Collaborate with the Practice Manager to exemplify the brand's commitment to high-quality care and exceptional service, optimizing efficiency and profitability.

Train and supervise staff to ensure adherence to established guidelines and exceptional client service.

Identify operational challenges and develop strategies to enhance medical workflows.

Partner with the Medical Director and Practice Manager to recruit, train, and mentor veterinary staff, ensuring their professional growth and high-quality service delivery.

Facilitate effective communication within the team and with clients, maintaining engagement and feedback opportunities.

Foster a collaborative environment that prioritizes quality care and service.

Participate in strategic planning and budgeting to achieve practice goals.


Clinical Responsibilities (70-80% of time):


Build trust with clients through effective communication of preventive care and treatment plans.

Practice evidence-based medicine, ensuring compliance with veterinary regulations and ethical standards.

Lead the veterinary team in managing daily operations and caseloads, enhancing overall efficiency.

Provide comprehensive medical care, including preventive treatments and surgical procedures as necessary.

Advocate for preventive care and wellness plans to promote long-term health for pets.

Maintain high standards of safety and hygiene within the practice.

Develop lasting relationships with clients, addressing their concerns with professionalism and care.


QUALIFICATIONS


Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.

Active veterinary license in good standing.

Minimum of two years of clinical experience, with a focus on mentoring and developing junior staff.

Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to ethical standards.


WORKING CONDITIONS


Ability to work in a dynamic environment with various animals and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Flexibility to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with veterinary care.

Exposure to a variety of animals and potential hazards associated with veterinary practice.
