Team Overview

As a vital member of our Software Platform team, you will contribute to the development of a robust and scalable next-generation vehicle platform for future Toyota and Lexus models. This platform will feature a centralized electrical architecture driven by Arene, our flagship programmable automotive software system, which seamlessly integrates on-vehicle operating systems and cloud-based data services.

Your role will involve delivering conceptual hardware and software solutions informed by high-quality user experience research, ultimately defining a comprehensive product vision for Toyota's upcoming vehicles. This innovative work will encompass a full-stack solution, from digital services and programmable software systems to the foundational compute and electrical architecture of the vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and maintain a suite of vehicle platform services, ensuring their scalability, reliability, and safety.
  • Develop tools for performance analysis, focusing on CPU, memory, and bus load characterization.
  • Produce high-quality, scalable code while addressing complex challenges with sustainable solutions, balancing immediate team needs with long-term business objectives.
  • Drive technical strategy and roadmaps, presenting insights and solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Enhance engineering processes by implementing best practices in testing and operational excellence, sharing knowledge across the organization.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, advanced development environment, working closely with operating systems, compute hardware, sensors, and vehicles.
  • Foster a collaborative team spirit, engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach and be open to travel as required.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient programming skills in C and C++, along with experience in related tools such as scripting, cross-compilers, and build systems.
  • Familiarity with POSIX operating systems (Linux, QNX, etc.) and experience with embedded and automotive systems, including interfaces like Ethernet and CAN.
  • Knowledge of automotive or robotics middleware software (e.g., Autosar AP, ROS2).
  • A versatile mindset with a proven ability to quickly adapt and a commitment to continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with hardware/software platforms from NVIDIA, Renesas, or Qualcomm.
  • Background in automotive systems (e.g., Autosar, ECU development, CAN bus) and understanding of multimedia/cockpit technologies (IVI/IC).
  • Experience in camera integration and familiarity with GPUs and machine learning inference on edge computing.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and experience with CI/CD, test automation, and over-the-air updates.
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., Docker, AWS, Nomad, Buildkite).
  • Experience in performance analysis of embedded systems.
