Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Early Childhood Education and Special Programs to join our team at the Baltimore City Public School System. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of early childhood education and special programs for preschool and kindergarten students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction for early childhood education and special programs
    • Supervise and manage a team of educators and staff
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for early childhood education and special programs
  • Curriculum Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement curriculum for early childhood education and special programs
    • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure effective implementation of curriculum
    • Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of curriculum and make recommendations for improvement
  • Professional Development and Support
    • Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and staff
    • Support teachers and staff in their professional growth and development
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective support for early childhood education and special programs
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, parents, and community members
    • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of early childhood education and special programs
    • Represent the Baltimore City Public School System at local, state, and national levels
Requirements
  • Education
    • Masters degree in early childhood education, special education, or related field
  • Experience
    • At least 3 years of experience in early childhood education and special programs
    • Experience in leadership and management roles
    • Experience in curriculum development and implementation
  • Skills
    • Strong leadership and management skills
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
    • Knowledge of early childhood education and special programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrator I endorsement
  • Experience in implementing, evaluating, and supervising curriculum and instructional strategies and designs for students with disabilities
  • Experience in coordinating large-scale, district-wide development opportunities for teachers
  • Knowledge of current research in best practices for early learning
