The Early Childhood Educator role is situated within A Child's Place Preschool. This position entails the design and implementation of educational programs, preparation of instructional materials, conducting parent consultations, and assessing the developmental progress of children. The educator is expected to engage actively with students, fostering a supportive and dynamic classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute lesson plans aligned with state-approved educational standards.
  2. Collaborate with colleagues in a team-teaching framework.
  3. Maintain effective communication with both parents and students.
  4. Ensure a safe and organized learning environment, prioritizing the well-being of all children.
  5. Prepare necessary materials and resources ahead of scheduled activities.
  6. Supervise children during various classroom activities, including naptime and outdoor play.
  7. Manage parent-teacher communications, including organizing conferences and conducting developmental assessments.
  8. Assist in the daily setup and cleanup of the classroom.
  9. Enforce classroom rules and maintain discipline among students.
  10. Facilitate engaging activities for children, both indoors and outdoors.
  11. Respond promptly to children's needs, emergencies, and interpersonal conflicts.
  12. Safely supervise children during outdoor transitions, ensuring their safety.
  13. Provide attentive support to preschoolers during physical activities tailored to their developmental needs.
  14. Complete necessary documentation and reports accurately and on time.
  15. Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain a Maryland Child Care Credential at level 5 or higher.
Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field; or a valid teaching certificate from MSDE or another state for early childhood education; or completion of 90 clock hours of approved early childhood coursework (including 45 hours in curriculum and 45 hours in child development); or possession of a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate.

Experience: A minimum of one year of teaching experience in a licensed early childhood education setting. Candidates must successfully complete fingerprinting, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment physical evaluation.

Skills: Ability to reach a child 20 to 30 feet away within 30 seconds without compromising safety. Proficiency in navigating playgrounds covered with wood chips, especially in emergency situations. Capability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform various physical activities such as walking, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, and engaging with children at their level.

Work Environment: The role is set within a preschool/daycare center atmosphere.
