Who are we looking for?

Our client is seeking Harbor Pilots to join our Terminal Pilotage Operations Division. This division is responsible for delivering a professional pilotage service, vessel traffic management system, and support services at all Saudi Aramco Oil Ports and Terminals. The goal is to expedite the seaborne export and import of crude oils and hydrocarbon-based products in a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally sound manner, adhering to the best practices of the shipping industry.

Your primary responsibility will be to berth and unberth all vessels without restriction at North Pier and unberth vessels at Sea Island up to 350,000 DWT without restriction. You will be administratively accountable to the Chief Pilot while functionally reporting to the senior Harbor Pilot.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science from a recognized and approved Maritime Studies College with 5 years of experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilot or seagoing experience.
  • Alternatively, a High National Diploma from a recognized and approved Maritime Studies College with 6 years of experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilot or seagoing experience.
  • Maritime Studies discipline is required for HND & Bachelor graduates.
  • Tanker Safety Course - Basic training in Oil/Chem/Gas.
  • Helicopter and Underwater Escape Training Course is also necessary.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety inspections of all vessels prior to berthing or loading.
  • Guide deep-loaded vessels to a safe anchorage and align them for the departure channel upon the ship's Master's request.
  • Investigate ship/pier-related oil pollution incidents and prepare reports.
  • Maintain a permanent official log of vessels handled.
  • Ensure radio communications with vessels in the operating area; advise vessels on ballast conditions required, berthing and unberthing times, and other information to expedite ship movement.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by Senior Harbor Pilot Supervision.
  • Direct Pier personnel or mooring launches in the order and sequence of putting out and taking in mooring lines.
Job Benefits
  • Monthly Base Salary – aligned with company employees with similar skills.
  • Monthly Overbase – 25% of your monthly base salary.
  • Benefits Supplement – 20% of your monthly base salary, increasing to 25% after 3 years of service, 30% after 6 years, and 35% after 12 years.
  • Severance Package (2-year vest period) – year 2 to 5: 2 weeks' pay for each year of service; Year 6+: 4 weeks' pay for each year thereafter.
  • Employment Tax – if the employee chooses to separate themselves from their 'home country' for income tax purposes, most will not be required to pay 'home country' income taxes.
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) (eligible after 12 months of service) – maximum purchase equal to 10% of monthly base pay with a cap, 20% share discount.
  • Incentive Plan – annual; based on performance, approximately 1.8x monthly base salary.
  • Travel Allowance – annual; approximately $8,200 per household member 11+ years old residing in Saudi Arabia and $6,000 per household member under 11 years old.
  • Vacation & Paid Holidays – 38 vacation days / 4 travel days / 11-13 paid holidays.
  • Medical/Dental Plan – complimentary in-Kingdom Johns Hopkins medical care/facilities for employee and eligible family members.
  • Educational Assistance Plan (EAP) – Out of Kingdom Assistance: 90% of expenses with a maximum per child, lesser of 5x monthly base salary or the company max ($48.5K).
  • Settling in Allowance – one-time payment; Family Status - 100% of monthly base salary; Single/Bachelor Status – 60% of monthly base salary.
