Candidate Profile

Our client is in search of Harbor Pilots to join the Terminal Pilotage Operations Division. This division is tasked with delivering a professional pilotage service, vessel traffic management system, and support services at all Saudi Aramco Oil Ports and Terminals. The goal is to facilitate the safe, efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible seaborne export and import of crude oils and hydrocarbon-based products, adhering to the best practices in the shipping industry.

Your primary responsibility will be to safely berth and unberth all vessels at North Pier and unberth vessels at Sea Island, accommodating vessels up to 350,000 DWT without restrictions. You will report administratively to the Chief Pilot while being functionally accountable to the senior Harbor Pilot.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science from a recognized Maritime Studies College with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilotage or relevant seagoing experience.
  • Alternatively, a High National Diploma from a recognized Maritime Studies College with at least 6 years of experience, including 4 years in Harbor Pilotage or relevant seagoing experience.
  • Maritime Studies discipline is required for both HND and Bachelor graduates.
  • Completion of a Tanker Safety Course and Basic training in Oil/Chem/Gas is necessary.
  • Helicopter and Underwater Escape Training Course certification is also required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety inspections of all vessels prior to berthing or loading.
  • Guide deep-loaded vessels to a secure anchorage and prepare them for departure upon the ship's Master's request.
  • Investigate oil pollution incidents related to ships/piers and compile reports.
  • Maintain a permanent official log of all vessels handled.
  • Ensure effective radio communication with vessels in the operational area, advising on ballast conditions, berthing and unberthing times, and other information to facilitate ship movement.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Senior Harbor Pilot supervision.
  • Coordinate Pier personnel or mooring launches regarding the sequence of mooring line operations.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Monthly Base Salary: Competitive and aligned with similar roles within the company.
  • Monthly Overbase: 25% of your monthly base salary.
  • Benefits Supplement: 20% of your monthly base salary, increasing to 25% after 3 years, 30% after 6 years, and 35% after 12 years of service.
  • Severance Package: (2-year vesting period) – 2 weeks' pay for each year of service from year 2 to 5, and 4 weeks' pay for each year after year 6.
  • Employment Tax: Employees may not be required to pay 'home country' income taxes if they choose to separate from their home country for tax purposes.
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP): Eligible after 12 months of service, allowing a maximum purchase equal to 10% of monthly base pay with a 20% share discount.
  • Incentive Plan: Annual performance-based incentives, approximately 1.8 times the monthly base salary.
  • Travel Allowance: Annual allowance of approximately $8,200 for each household member over 11 years old residing in Saudi Arabia and $6,000 for those under 11 years old.
  • Vacation & Paid Holidays: 38 vacation days, 4 travel days, and 11-13 paid holidays annually.
  • Medical/Dental Plan: Complimentary in-Kingdom medical care/facilities provided by Johns Hopkins for employees and eligible family members.
  • Educational Assistance Plan (EAP): Covers 90% of out-of-Kingdom expenses for eligible children, up to a maximum of either 5 times the monthly base salary or the company maximum ($48.5K).
  • Settling in Allowance: One-time payment based on family status; 100% of monthly base salary for family status and 60% for single/bachelor status.
