Candidate Profile

Our client is in search of skilled Harbor Pilots to become part of the Terminal Pilotage Operations Division. This division is tasked with delivering a professional pilotage service, managing vessel traffic systems, and providing support services at all Saudi Aramco Oil Ports and Terminals. The goal is to facilitate the safe, efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible seaborne export and import of crude oils and hydrocarbon products, adhering to the best practices of the shipping industry.

Your primary responsibilities will include berthing and unberthing all vessels without restrictions at North Pier and unberthing vessels at Sea Island up to 350,000 DWT without limitations. You will report administratively to the Chief Pilot while being functionally accountable to the senior Harbor Pilot.

Essential Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Science from an accredited Maritime Studies College, along with 5 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 4 years in Harbor Pilotage or equivalent seagoing experience.
  • Alternatively, a High National Diploma from an accredited Maritime Studies College with 6 years of experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilotage or seagoing experience.
  • Maritime Studies discipline is mandatory for HND & Bachelor graduates.
  • Completion of a Tanker Safety Course - Basic training in Oil/Chem/Gas is required.
  • Helicopter and Underwater Escape Training Course certification is also necessary.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety inspections of all vessels prior to berthing or loading.
  • Guide deep-loaded vessels to a secure anchorage and align them for the departure channel upon the ship's Master's request.
  • Investigate oil pollution incidents related to ships/piers and prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain a comprehensive official log of all vessels handled.
  • Ensure effective radio communication with vessels in the operational area; advise on ballast conditions, berthing and unberthing times, and other information to facilitate ship movement.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Senior Harbor Pilot supervision.
  • Direct Pier personnel or mooring launches regarding the order and sequence of deploying and retrieving mooring lines.
Employment Benefits
  • Monthly Base Salary – competitive and aligned with similar roles within the company.
  • Monthly Overbase – 25% of your monthly base salary.
  • Benefits Supplement – 20% of your monthly base salary, increasing to 25% after 3 years, 30% after 6 years, and 35% after 12 years of service.
  • Severance Package (2-year vesting period) – from year 2 to 5: 2 weeks' pay for each year of service; Year 6+: 4 weeks' pay for each subsequent year.
  • Employment Tax – employees may not be required to pay 'home country' income taxes if they choose to separate from their 'home country' for tax purposes.
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) – eligible after 12 months of service, allowing for a maximum purchase equal to 10% of monthly base pay with a cap and a 20% share discount.
  • Incentive Plan – annual performance-based incentives, approximately 1.8 times the monthly base salary.
  • Travel Allowance – annual; approximately $8,200 for each household member aged 11 and older residing in Saudi Arabia, and $6,000 for each household member under 11.
  • Vacation & Paid Holidays – 38 vacation days, 4 travel days, and 11-13 paid holidays.
  • Medical/Dental Plan – complimentary in-Kingdom medical care/facilities provided by Johns Hopkins for employees and eligible family members.
  • Educational Assistance Plan (EAP) – Out of Kingdom Assistance: 90% of expenses covered, with a maximum per child capped at the lesser of 5 times the monthly base salary or the company maximum ($48.5K).
  • Settling in Allowance – one-time payment; Family Status - 100% of monthly base salary; Single/Bachelor Status – 60% of monthly base salary.
