Job Summary

To provide high-quality respiratory care to patients in an inpatient setting, evaluating and implementing treatment plans to optimize cardiopulmonary function and overall health. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve patient outcomes and department goals.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient cardiopulmonary function and develop treatment plans to address impairments and promote optimal health.
• Implement and deliver respiratory therapy interventions, including ventilator management and patient education.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to establish goals and develop care plans that meet patient needs.
• Supervise and mentor CRTs and student affiliations to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of respiratory care as recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Current credentials from NBRC and licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the State of Connecticut.
• CPR Certification - BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Active Member of the AARC (preferred).

Work Environment

Job requires working primarily indoors, with occasional need to be outdoors. Must be able to work continuously around others while working alone and with others on a frequent basis. May be required to respond to emergency situations and work in crowded spaces. Exposure to body fluids and blood-borne pathogens may occur.

Physical and Cognitive Demands

Job requires standing and/or walking for long periods, with occasional sitting. Overhead reaching, climbing, squatting, and kneeling are occasionally required. Lifting of weights greater than 75 pounds may be necessary for patient repositioning. Fine manipulation is required for patient care and ventilator management. Abstract reasoning, adaptability, and quick decision-making are essential for this role.
