We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at ECHN. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, developing and implementing respiratory care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Perform safe and effective respiratory therapy modalities, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy.
- Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans based on patient assessment and medical orders.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and optimize respiratory outcomes.
- Monitor and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators, oxygen analyzers, and suctioning equipment.
- Perform tracheal, endotracheal, and nasopharyngeal suctioning, including the instillation of pharmacologic agents as needed.
- Draw and analyze blood gases by arterial stick, and interpret results to inform patient care decisions.
- Document and communicate patient therapies, including concerns and education needs, to ensure continuity of care.
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Current license to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Connecticut.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications desirable.
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) certification desirable.
- Minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years.
- Ability to work well with others in a multi-task, fast-paced patient care environment.
- Strong focus on customer service and ability to exhibit patience and empathy while providing care to a culturally diverse group of patients.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to ensure accurate medical charting and clear communication with patients, co-workers, and physicians.
- Ability to speak, read, and write using the English language.
- Access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple work sites.
